7 Ways To Save More Time In Your Life

Everyone has 24 hours in a day, only. How fast you can reach your goals in life really depends on how well you can manage these precious 24 hours. But truth be told, do we really have twenty four hours to begin with? For the average men in a twenty-four day, 8 hours are already spent in their sleep. (read more)

The Power of Prayer and Belief in God and Heaven

There is one question that comes to light from human beings everywhere. Be them Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim or any other of the hundreds of religions out there. The question is both a personal one, and a social one. "How do I know God is real?" We know God is real when we experience His 'dimension'. The seemingly invisible touch which you feel when it happens. God wants us to know that He is real. One way you can find out for sure is through a fun little experiment. Join me for a second and say this prayer... (read more)

Coping With Death

We talked about the wedding. All she kept saying was how beautiful the bride looked and how much fun she had celebrating with all five of her children. I could hear the happiness in her heart as she spoke of the joys she experienced at the wedding minute by minute. “I danced, sang and ate good,” is what she said. I laughed and responded, “I know you did!” She had to go and promised to call me back once she got home and settled as she explained she was back in Philly but not home, August 20, 2013 after 5pm to be exact. 2015: New Year, New You

I have a personal quote, “Making change is never as difficult as accepting change.”  It only takes a few days into January to realize you’ve either already BROKEN your New Year’s resolution or you’re not as committed to it as you THOUGHT you were. We’re all a bit resistant to change because it can be hard and often - scary. (read more)

Break Bad Habits Now With Affirmations

Affirmations can be really helpful to break bad habits if you are persistent about it. In order for you to really break bad habits you must: a) be aware that the unconscious mind exists and b) learn how to manipulate its existence. Fighting to Be Gifted (Introduction)

My son was labeled in the womb as “at risk”.  My wife and I were advised by (well meaning) staff members at John Hopkins Hospital of our “options” and if we were capable of making the social or financial commitment to the issue we were facing.  We, a young black couple, were introduced to (bombarded with) mountains of statistics linking low birth weight babies and the higher risk of infant mortality among African Americans. Fighting to Be Gifted

As part of a speech I gave at my high school in Illinois, I passed out notecards with personal adjectives: funny, boring, materialistic, intelligent, etc.  I asked my class, “Do these words define you?” and  “Can a piece of paper really embody the complexity that is you?”  I was met with both nods of approval and grunts of dismay.  I went on to explain that the same bubble - filling, one word process of putting yourself on paper was used every day to distinguish potential candidates of the Gifted and Talented Program (GT).  (read more)

An Attitude of Chasing God's Heart

LOVING GOD-chasing after His heart-is the most personal of all the attitudes that lead to victorious living. It is the key to all of life. When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, it is interesting that He spoke of a relationship rather than an action. (read more)

Good...Better...Best...

Being a worthy part of the “village” of young people keeps me on my toes. Whether it’s my family, my kid’s friends or my friend’s kids, I find myself asking more frequently, “where are the standards and expectations for our young people today?” Baggy pants, the appearance of underwear…everywhere, over exposed body parts, tattoos, the foul, foul mouths, unkempt appearance, the angry scowls and the disrespect of elders… (And by the way, this behavior applies to male and female, urban and suburban …what gives?) Grandmothers

It was a Memorial Day holiday in 1991 and I was in the mood for some biscuits. Boy did it take it back to some childhood memories, that kind I don’t mind remembering. Everyone who was blessed had two grandmothers, but honey, God really shined Her light down on me, because I was blessed with three grandmothers. If you want to define the term “grandmother’ than you can check it with Webster, but if you use the definition, which comes from feelings, well I’ll just have to say that I had three grandmothers. Our Spiritual DNA
Just Do It!

I have often heard people ask the question, “Why am I here?” Everyone seeks the answer to that innate question that resonates in the very essence of our being. It is my belief that every person born on this great existence called earth was strategically designed for a specific purpose as part of an overarching strategic plan. We were created and fashioned to grace this universal platform to identify a particular problem and to formulate a strategic agenda in order to solve or fill an identified void in the earth.
